The Grumman E-2 Hawkeye is an American all-weather, carrier-capable tactical airborne early warning aircraft. This twin-turboprop aircraft was designated and developed during the late 1950s and early 19060s. Since entering combat during the Vietnam War, the E-2 has served the US Navy around the world, acting as the electronic “eyes of the fleet”.

E-6A Mercury Wooden Model

The Boeing E-6A Mercury aircraft is an airborne command post and communications relay based on the Boeing 707-320. The original E-6A manufactured by Boeing’s defense division entered service with the United States Navy in July 1989, replacing the EC-130Q. It conveyed instructions from the National Command Authority to fleet ballistic missile submarines, a mission known as TACAMO. The E-6B model deployed in October 1998 kept this role, but added further command post capabilities and control of land-based missiles and nuclear-armed bombers. The E-6B replaced Air Force EC-135Cs in the Looking Glass role providing command and control of U.S. nuclear forces should ground-based control become inoperable.

The Northrop Grumman EA-6B Prowler aircraft is a twin-engine, mid-wing electronic warfare aircraft modified from the basic A-6 Intruder airframe. The EA-6B Prowler is the primary tactical jamming aircraft of the US Navy, US Air Force and the US Marine Corps.

EC-130H Compass Call Wooden Model

Lockheed EC-130H Compass Call is an American airborne tactical weapon system using a heavily modified version of the C-130 Hercules airframe. It is based at Davis-Monthan AFB. The system attempts to disrupt enemy command and control communications and limits adversary coordination essential for enemy force management. Compass Call’s offensive counter information and electronic attack capabilities are used to support U.S. and allied tactical air, surface, and special operations forces. Programmed upgrades will give a secondary Electronic Attack (EA) capability against early warning and acquisition radars.

The Boeing EC-135 Stratolifter aircraft is was a command and control version of the C-135 Stratolifter. Modified for the Looking Glass program, during the Cold War. The EC-135 were airborne 24 hours a day to serve as flying command platforms for the military in the event of nuclear war.

The RC-135V/W RIVET JOINT surveillance aircraft are equipped with an extensive array of sophisticated intelligence gathering equipment enabling military specialists to monitor the electronic activity of adversaries. Also known as “RJ”, the aircraft are sometimes called “hogs” due to the extended “hog nose” and “hog cheeks”. RIVET JOINT has been widely used in the 1990’s — during Desert Storm, the occupation of Haiti, and most recently over Bosnia. The Lockheed U-2 Dragon Lady aircraft is a single-engine,very high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft operated by the United States Air Force (USAF) and previously flown by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). It provides day and night, very high-altitude, all-weather intelligence gathering. The aircraft is also used for electronic sensor research and development, satellite calibration and satellite date validation.

 

WC-130 Hurricane Hunters

The Lockheed WC-130 Hurricane Hunters is a high-wing, medium-range aircraft used in weather reconnaissance missions. The aircraft is a modified version of the C-130 transport configured with palletized weather instrumentation for penetration of tropical disturbances and storms, hurricanes and winter storms to obtain data on movement, size and intensity. The WC-130 is the weather data collection platform for the 53d Weather Reconnaissance Squadron.
